Job summary

Qualifications

• Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West Virginia.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Make administrative decisions regarding bed coordination and related hospital operations.
• Initiate actions in emergencies and keep the House Supervisor informed.
• Manage public relations matters regarding media inquiries concerning patients and events.
• Assist staff to resolve problems impacting patient care and collaborate with the department director.
• Provide current bed status to ED physicians and transfer teams to expedite admissions.
• Coordinate transfers from outside facilities and ED using clinical expertise for patient placement.
• Confer with unit leadership on unusual patient care situations and staffing concerns.
• Assign staffing resources and arrange appropriate staffing with supervisors as needed.
• Collaborate with operational support departments to maximize patient throughput.
• Contribute to Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement activities.
