Job summary

University of Miami Health System is seeking an experienced registered nurse to support admission, bed management, and discharge planning across inpatient units. You will collaborate with physicians, APRNs, case managers, and family members to ensure safe transitions with timely discharge education and post-discharge follow-up.

Requires a Florida nursing license, CPR/BLS, and 3 years of recent nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. MSN preferred.
• Current/valid Florida nursing license from a nationally accredited school of nursing
• CPR/BLS required
• 3 years of recent nursing experience required
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Proven track record of building relationships with physicians, direct reports, and key staff
• Moderate to advanced computer literacy

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to anticipate and plan for patient/family needs at admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Reviews orders on new admissions, transfers, and discharges and communicates changes to the team.
• Coordinates interdisciplinary discharge planning with case managers and providers.
• Discharge education, medication reconciliation, and finalizing discharge orders.
• Facilitates follow-up appointments and 30-day post-discharge contacts as needed.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and professional standards; supports continuous improvement.
