Job summary

Western Home Communities in Ackley, IA is seeking an experienced RN leader to join as Nurse Mentor. You’ll mentor staff, supervise resident care, and support a team dedicated to person-centered care.

This weekend package role offers Fri/Sat/Sun shifts or Sat/Sun 12-hour shifts, with opportunities to lead infection control, MDS coordination, and staff development while maintaining high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a state board-approved RN program.
• Current Iowa RN license in good standing.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Preferred: Familiarity with MDS process.
• Preferred: Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (or willingness to obtain).
• Completion of the Iowa mandatory supervisory course (or willingness to complete within 6 months).
• Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.

• Identify and manage infection control practices; educate team on precautions.
• Oversee and participate in MDS processes — scheduling and transmitting assessments.
• Supervise and guide direct care staff to ensure high standards of care.

• Communicate with physicians, supervisors, and family members regarding resident needs and progress.
• Foster a team-oriented, compassionate, and professional environment.

Western Home Communities is seeking an experienced, organized, and compassionate RN leader to join our team as a Nurse Mentor at our Ackley location. This position will be a weekend package position consisting of:

• Fri/Sat/Sun 8 hour shifts, working any shift preferred (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) OR
• Sat/Sun 12 hour shifts, working any shift preferred

What You’ll Do:
