Job summary

The Village of Ackley, managed by Western Home Communities, seeks an experienced RN Mentor for weekend package shifts at Ackley, IA. You will lead with heart, mentor staff across care levels, and oversee MDS processes while ensuring high-quality, person-centered care and accountability.

Requirements include Iowa RN licensure, strong leadership, and experience in infection control; CPR and supervisory coursework are preferred. Weekend flexibility is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of state board-approved Registered Nurse (RN) program.
• Current Iowa RN license in good standing.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Preferred: familiarity with MDS process; infection prevention and control certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Completion of the Iowa mandatory supervisory course (or willingness to complete within 6 months).
• Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care while mentoring and supporting all levels of care staff.
• Identify and manage infection control practices; educate team members on proper precautions.
• Oversee and participate in MDS processes — including scheduling and transmitting assessments.
• Supervise and guide direct care staff to ensure the highest standards of care are met.
• Administer medications, treatments, and physician-ordered care with precision and accountability.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, supervisors, and family members regarding resident needs and progress.
