Job summary

Western Home Communities is seeking an experienced Nurse Mentor (RN) to lead and mentor staff at the Ackley location. The role focuses on resident care, infection control, and ensuring high-quality, person-centered services.

You will oversee MDS processes, supervise care teams, and coordinate with physicians and families to support residents. Weekend availability and strong leadership are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a state board-approved RN program.
• Current Iowa RN license in good standing.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Preferred familiarity with MDS process.
• Preferred: Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (or willingness to obtain).
• Completion of the Iowa mandatory supervisory course (or willingness to complete within 6 months).
• Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care while mentoring and supporting care staff.
• Identify and manage infection control practices; educate team members on proper precautions.
• Oversee and participate in MDS processes — including scheduling and transmitting assessments.
• Supervise and guide direct care staff to ensure the highest standards of care are met.
• Administer medications, treatments, and physician-ordered care with precision and accountability.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, supervisors, and family members regarding resident needs and progress.
• Foster a team-oriented, compassionate, and professional environment.
