Nurse Manager, AC - Duke Primary Care Durham Pediatrics

Duke Primary Care Durham Pediatrics seeks to hire a NURSE MANAGER who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together.

Durham Pediatrics at North Duke Street is a trusted, high-energy clinic providing expert care for newborns, children, teens, and adolescents. With a dedicated team of board-certified pediatricians, the clinic serves 16,000 patients annually, offering comprehensive services like well-child check-ups, immunizations, physicals, and in-clinic testing. Specializing in managing chronic conditions, behavioral health, and common illnesses, the clinic is committed to supporting children’s health and development. Families rely on Durham Pediatrics for its exceptional care and dedication to the community.

Location:

2609 North Duke Street, Suite 1000, Durham, NC 27704

Hours:

8am – 5pm Monday – Friday, with some Saturday morning commitment 8am - 12pm

Summary of Responsibilities:
  1. Manage and coordinate patient care and personnel needs in a DUHS Clinic.
  2. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate ambulatory health care services, programs, and activities.
  3. Manage multi-specialty nursing services, patients, and staff.
  4. Perform other related duties incidental to the work of the clinic.
  5. Manage personnel actions including hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions, scheduling, and counseling.
  6. Collaborate in the development and expansion of learning opportunities and skill development for staff.
  7. Analyze, develop, and maintain an effective nursing care delivery system that reflects patient and family needs across the continuum, achieving desired outcomes.
  8. Promote education for patients, families, and the community; participate in direct patient care activities for role modeling or information gathering.
  9. Collaborate with nursing colleagues to promote optimal utilization of nursing resources across clinics.
  10. Identify clinical operational needs; manage equipment and supplies, and monitor maintenance.
  11. Assess the environment and recommend improvements to ensure patient safety, comfort, and regulatory compliance.
  12. Collaborate on fiscal planning, including budgetary recommendations for nursing personnel and supplies.
  13. Cultivate exemplary customer service and promote effective communication skills.
  14. Develop and implement quality improvement processes.
  15. Develop, document, implement, and monitor policies and procedures aligned with the clinic’s mission and objectives.
  16. Manage the clinic in the absence of the Healthcare Administrator/Practice Manager and be available for emergencies.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three years of nursing experience.

Licenses, Certifications:
  • Current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina.
  • BCLS certification required.
  • Leadership certification within three months of hire for nurse leaders.
