Job summary

UTHealth Houston’s Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center seeks a Hospital Nurse Manager to oversee admissions and nursing operations for 60+ inpatient beds. The role focuses on safe, compassionate behavioral health care, with collaboration across physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient access, triage, bed management and regulatory compliance.

The position requires leadership, expertise in behavioral health assessments, and a commitment to coaching staff and driving performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
• RN licensure in Texas required.
• 5+ years of nursing experience; psychiatric setting preferred.
• Supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide managerial oversight of nursing staff and patient services for multiple inpatient units.
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, and budget for Nursing Services (e.g., $16M budget).
• Collaborate with physicians, referral sources and interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient flow and safety.
• Lead clinical and staff development initiatives and quality improvement efforts.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and participate in hospital committees as needed.
