Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Nurse Extern for PRN opportunities. You will gain hands-on experience on a progressive unit, supporting the nursing team and delivering safe, compassionate care to patients while you advance your nursing education.

This role requires completion of at least one year of nursing school, with no required prior work experience; preferred: 1+ year in acute care.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of nursing school completed, or as mandated by state of practice
• Required Experience: None
• Preferred Experience: 1+ years of experience in an acute care setting
• Required License: Current NC CNA registry

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan
