Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC is seeking a Nurse Extern to gain hands-on experience on the Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit as a PRN team member. You will assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, support mobility, and learn through direct supervision to grow toward RN responsibilities.

As part of the Nursing program, you will perform nursing tasks under supervision, document care, and communicate with the team to ensure safe, compassionate patient care while you complete your nursing education.

Qualifications

• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ADLs and vitals, support mobility and comfort.
• Perform basic nursing tasks as competency grows.
• Document care and communicate updates to the nursing team.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and recovery.
• Maintain cleanliness and infection prevention in patient areas.
• Engage in learning opportunities and develop a personal career plan.
