Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC is seeking a Nurse Extern for cardiovascular progressive care on a PRN basis. You will work closely with the nursing team to provide safe, compassionate care and gain hands-on experience as you advance through your nursing program.

You will perform essential tasks, monitor patients, document care, and participate in growth opportunities with your supervisor, while adhering to infection prevention and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• NC (CNA) Certification required for nursing assistant work.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and monitor vital signs.
• Perform basic nursing tasks as skills progress (wound care, catheter care, specimen collection).
• Document care and communicate updates to the nursing team.
• Explain care plans to patients and families, supporting recovery.
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas with infection prevention practices.
• Engage in growth opportunities with supervisor to develop career plan.
