Job summary

Atrium Health Navicent is seeking a Nurse Extern to support Registered Nurses in delivering safe, patient-centered care. You will assist with ADLs, mobility, vital signs, and documentation while developing fundamental clinical skills under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and active enrollment in an accredited nursing program with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Orientation and onboarding are provided as part of Advocate Health/Atrium Health programs.

Qualifications

• Proof of HS education.
• Be actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program and remain in good standing.
• Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Completion of foundational nursing coursework required for supervised practice.
• Satisfactory reference form.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living under RN supervision, maintaining dignity and safety.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and use of assistive devices under RN direction.
• Record routine vital signs and document changes for RN review.
• Support nutrition and hydration per diet orders.
• Maintain clean, safe patient environments and infection control standards.
• Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the RN.
• Assist with patient education and prep for tests or procedures as directed by RN.
• Perform clerical duties and support unit communications.
• Manage supplies and equipment and ensure cleanliness and readiness.
• Perform competency-validated clinical skills under RN supervision.
