Job summary

Regional One Health in Memphis, TN is seeking a Nurse Extern to assist nursing staff in patient care under RN supervision. You will participate in selected nursing activities, perform unit duties, and help maintain charts, records, and supplies while ensuring patient safety.

The role emphasizes skill development in patient care, vital signs, and documentation within a compliant, compassionate, and team‑oriented environment. PRN shift options are available.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an approved nursing program (diploma, associate or bachelor degree in nursing) and have completed fundamentals of nursing.
• Must provide proof of continuous enrollment in an approved nursing program to maintain employment.
• Current CPR/BLS certification required.
• At least 1 year experience in patient care or equivalent during approved nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Participates in selected nursing activities and care per established policies.
• Performs unit-specific duties excluding invasive procedures, meds, IVs and blood products.
• Assists in developing and revising Nursing Care Plans.
• Handles admissions, discharges, and unit record keeping and supplies.
• Performs diagnostic measurements as trained.
• Records vital signs and documents patient data.
• Provides one-on-one supervision for high‑risk patients as needed.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort during routine care and procedures.
• Maintains patient records and confidentiality in line with HIPAA and policies.
