Job summary

Regional One Health in Memphis is seeking a Nurse Extern to assist nursing staff in patient care under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will perform selected nursing activities, help develop and revise Nursing Care Plans, and maintain patient records and unit supplies.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, collecting specimens, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.

Responsibilities

• Participates and performs selected activities and nursing care as assigned and according to established policies and procedures.
• Takes and records patient’s vital signs. Taking and recording temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration.
• Collects, prepares, forwards and transports specimens (urine, stool and sputum).
• Provides patient care by performing assigned tasks for patient care plan implementation by: Contributing information in day to day management of patient care.
• Maintains records of fluid intake and output.
• Observes and reports patient’s response to interventions/treatment. Completes all documentation requirements in a timely manner.
• Provides one-on-one to patients requiring close observation and monitoring (sitter) to ensure their safety and prevention of injury.
