Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking Nurse Aide externs to support patients with daily living activities and basic clinical tasks in a hospital setting. The role includes assisting with hygiene, vital sign checks, feeding and ambulation, and maintaining clean patient areas.

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and be in good standing in a Registered Nurse program. Basic Life Support certification is required prior to start.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Supports patients/residents with activities of daily living.
• Assists patients/residents with personal hygiene.
• Takes vital signs and height and weight measurements.
• Feeds and ambulates patients/residents according to specific procedures.
• Maintains patient/resident's rooms in a clean and orderly condition.
• Observes and reports changes in patient/resident conditions.
• Orients patients/families to unit and instructs patient on safety measures.
• Assists with clerical work such as answering phones, entering data and maintaining medical records.
• Maintains stock supply items in inventory management.
• Performs duties as outlined in Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II tasks per state Board lists.
• Performs technical tasks with training such as 12-Lead ECG and routine venipuncture.
