Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking Nursing Externs to support patient care teams in our North Carolina facilities. You will assist with daily living activities, hygiene, vital signs, and basic procedures under supervision.

You will help maintain clean patient rooms, observe patient conditions, and communicate changes to the care team. Responsibilities also include light clerical work and helping with charting and inventory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Registered Nurse academic program in good standing required.
• Successful completion of junior year for Nurse Extern program required.
• Current listing with the Nurse Aide Registry prior to start date required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Supports patients with activities of daily living.
• Assists with personal hygiene.
• Takes vital signs and measurements.
• Feeds and ambulate patients per procedures.
• Maintains patient rooms in a clean, orderly condition.
• Observes and reports changes in patient conditions.
• Orient patients and families to unit and safety measures.
• Assists with clerical tasks and maintains medical records.
• Maintains stock supply items in inventory.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Nurse Aide I/II certification

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
