Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Nurse Extern to support Registered Nurses in delivering age-appropriate, high-quality patient care. You will assist with ADLs, mobility, nutrition, and clinical measurements under direct RN supervision, while developing core nursing skills and maintaining patient safety and documentation accuracy.

The role emphasizes bedside support, infection prevention, and collaboration with the care team to improve patient throughput and experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Active enrollment in an accredited nursing program with good academic standing (GPA 2.5).
• Completion of foundational nursing coursework and competency validation as directed by the program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living under RN supervision.
• Support mobility, hygiene, and safety of patients.
• Record routine clinical measurements and report changes to the RN.
• Assist with nutrition, discharge preparation, and unit logistics.
• Maintain clean, safe patient environments and proper infection control.
