Job summary

Main Line Health’s Nurse Extern Program offers hands-on experience in a dynamic clinical environment, supporting our nursing staff and delivering exceptional patient care. This year-round role is designed for nursing students preparing for a full-time nursing career and provides direct patient care in a nursing support position.

The program supports placement at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Lankenau Medical Center, Paoli Hospital (Malvern PA), Riddle Hospital (Media PA), and Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ASN, or BSN).
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and availability to work year-round.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic nursing support duties (vital signs, AM/PM care, EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, finger sticks, phlebotomy).
• Document patient information accurately in EPIC.
• Support patient mobility, comfort and safety.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and health care team members.
• Participate in patient care planning and review sessions.
• Adhere to hospital protocols and infection control practices.
