Job summary

SSM Health DePaul Hospital in Missouri is seeking a Student Nurse Extern who will gain hands-on clinical experience under supervision, working with experienced nurses and a dedicated preceptor in a supportive care environment. This role offers exposure to a variety of nursing specialties and helps you build confidence for your nursing career.

This transitional position is for nursing students enrolled in an accredited program, with no experience required, and provides opportunities to apply

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited school of nursing or completion of first clinical rotation, or no more than 90 days post conferral date.
• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification (AHA) is required.

Responsibilities

• Completes patient care tasks based on skills deemed competent in nursing school under direction of RN.
• Assists with vital signs, patient calls for help and monitoring of condition for progress or deterioration.
• Assists with activities of daily living to create a positive patient experience.
• Assists with procedures such as dressing changes, toileting, turning, and basic bedside care.
• Provides compassionate support and communicates with the care team to ensure safety and quality.
• Prepares patients for discharge and supports the care team as needed.

Education

Current enrollment in accredited school of nursing or completion of first clinical rotation or within 90 days post conferral
