Job summary

SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Fenton is seeking a Student Nurse Extern to gain hands-on clinical experience while working with experienced nurses and a dedicated preceptor.

Under supervision, you will assist in nursing care tasks, perform vital signs, and support patients’ daily living activities, preparing for an RN role after program completion. This PRN position offers varied shifts and a pathway to future employment.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited school of nursing and completion of first clinical rotation, or no more than 90-days post conferral date
• No experience required

Responsibilities

• Completes patient care tasks under RN direction.
• Assists with activities of daily living and basic patient care.
• Monitors vital signs and observes patient condition for changes.
• Assists with procedures such as dressing changes, toileting, and comfort measures.
• Relays patient information to the care team and documents as needed.
• Participates in unit activities and contributes to a positive patient experience.
• Prepares patients for discharge when indicated.
