Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Educator for Surgical Services to influence patient care through education and collaboration across departments. The role focuses on evidence-based education and onboarding for nursing and other personnel at the facility.

Responsibilities include developing competency assessments, coordinating education activities, and promoting lifelong learning. Requires RN license, BLS, and 2+ years in clinical education with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
• Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in acute care hospital preferred.
• Currently licensed as an RN in the state of practice or holds an active compact state license required.
• Nationally recognized specialty certification preferred.
• BLS required.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Participates in onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
• Provides orientation programs to promote employee retention.
• Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to adjust the program based on evaluation results.
• Participates in development and management of competency evaluation.
• Designs educational activities to address practice gaps for target audiences.
• Develops activities to achieve outcomes related to knowledge, skill and practice deficits.
• Promotes evidence-based practice to improve care; participates in research, EBP and quality initiatives.
• Identifies opportunities for lifelong learning and staff skill maturation.
