Job summary

HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital is seeking a Nurse Educator to enhance professional practice and lead evidence-based educational programs for nursing and allied clinical staff. The role focuses on onboarding, competency development, and continuous quality improvement across the facility.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s in Nursing (Master’s preferred), possess BLS certification, and have 2+ years in clinical education or leadership within acute care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
• Master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in acute care hospital is preferred.
• RN license in the state of practice or active compact state license is required.
• Nationally Recognized Specialty certification is preferred.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) is required.
• Ability to Travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Participates in onboarding and orientation program development and evaluation for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
• Provides orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
• Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to adjust the program based on evaluation results.
• Participates in development, coordination, and management of competency activities.
• Designs educational activities addressing practice gaps for identified audiences.
• Develops activities to achieve outcomes related to knowledge, skill and practice deficits.
• Promotes evidence-based practice and engages in research, EBP, and quality improvement in patient care.
• Identifies strategies for lifelong learning and staff development.
• Uses the novice-to-expert continuum to guide staff development.
