Job summary

The Northwest Texas Healthcare System is seeking a Nurse Educator to support onboarding and ongoing education for unit staff in Amarillo, TX. You will assign preceptors, coordinate orientation progress, and drive annual competency validation to meet regulatory standards.

This role emphasizes safety, Service Excellence, and leadership in nursing education, ensuring high-quality care and ongoing professional development within NWTHS and its UHS parent company.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas.
• BSN required OR national certification in nursing specialty within one year of becoming a unit-based educator.
• Three years similar nursing experience, education experience preferred.
• Handle with Care certification maintained annually.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association on hire or within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist onboarding of new hires onto the unit and oversee ongoing education.
• Assign preceptors to new hires and coordinate orientation progress meetings.
• Lead annual competency validation and ensure regulatory alignment.
• Support a safety and Service Excellence culture across customer groups.
• Collaborate to improve unit processes and overall care quality.
