Job summary

Balboa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center seeks a Director of Staff Development to plan and implement orientation, job skills training, and in-service education for nursing assistants and staff. This role collaborates with the DON and Administrator to ensure high-quality care and may provide direct resident care as needed.

The DSD coordinates recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and education program evaluation, while ensuring compliance with state regulations and ongoing staff development

Qualifications

• RN or LVN/LPN with current license.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of direct patient care in long-term care.
• 2+ years of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing education programs.
• Current CPR certification.
• Must remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate staff recruitment and hiring.
• Coordinate employment-related documentation.
• Coordinate payroll and employee benefits programs.
• Plan, conduct, and document in-service education programs and annual schedules.
• Provide direct resident/patient care.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and patient data.
• Supervise staff and enforce appropriate disciplinary measures.
• Participate in facility surveys and inspections.
