The Mississippi State Department of Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a Nurse Consultant within the Immunization Program.This Time-Limited (NS-14) Nurse Team Lead position provides leadership, supervision, technical guidance, and operational oversight for Immunization Representatives supporting the Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Immunization Quality Improvement for Providers (IQIP) programs.— Responsibilities include: Supervising and evaluating professional nursing staff; monitoring workloads and field coverage; coordinating provider site visits; reviewing documentation for consistency with CDC and MSDH requirements; providing technical assistance involving vaccine management, storage and handling, eligibility requirements, and provider compliance; reviewing corrective action activities; mentoring and training staff; responding to complex or escalated provider concerns; and coordinating with district leadership and county health departments.The position also supports quality assurance activities, VFC and IQIP visits, staff development, statewide meetings and training, and implementation of updated CDC and MSDH immunization policies and procedures.

What you'll need to be Successful

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, organization, judgment, and problem-solving skills. The position requires the ability to supervise and develop professional staff; manage workloads and competing priorities; interpret and apply public health and regulatory requirements; and maintain accurate documentation. The individual should also be comfortable providing technical guidance to staff and healthcare providers, addressing complex or escalated compliance issues, adapting to changes in CDC and MSDH guidance, and supporting consistent program operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires state licensure as a Registered Nurse and 2–4+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse.— Agency Preferred Qualifications:Preference may be given to applicants with experience in public health nursing, immunization services, vaccine-related programs, staff supervision or leadership, VFC or IQIP operations, vaccine storage and handling, provider compliance, quality assurance, staff training, or regulatory program administration.
