Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago is seeking a Nurse Clinician to provide comprehensive nursing care through assessment, intervention, and education. The Nurse Clinician will perform nursing assessments, administer treatments, document care in the medical record, and collaborate with other departments to coordinate quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Nursing
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• State Licensed Registered Nurse for State of employment
• Certification in Basic CPR
• 2 years of relevant clinical experience in an acute or ambulatory care environment
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (may be required for certain positions)

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment; ensure OSHA compliance.
• Provide pre-attending care: assess patient needs and document in medical record.
• Perform routine nursing duties; phlebotomy, medications, vitals, lab prep.
• Interpret abnormalities and document interventions in the medical record.
• Communicate and collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care.
• Triage and prioritize incoming calls using clinical assessment; document assessments.
• Manage urgent/emergent medical situations per organization protocols.
• Serve as a resource for staff and physicians; delegate tasks to LPNs and Medical Assistants.
• Comply with policies; propose improvements to patient care processes.
• Initiate and coordinate patient education; participate in community outreach education.
