Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a registered nurse to provide specialized care and coordinate care plans for targeted patient populations. The role includes triage, patient education, and liaison duties across departments and schedulers.

Responsibilities include hands-on nursing support, testing coordination, and prior-authorizations assistance. 40-hour work week with day shifts and exempt status in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in the state where services are provided or multi-state licensure via eNLC.
• Background check and Federal check as required for regulated areas.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-on assistance as needed, including procedures, testing, medications, and specimen collection.
• Acts as first contact for patients, providing triage and medical advice when applicable.
• Coordinates plan of care and liaises with providers, departments, and schedulers for testing, scheduling and referrals.
• Monitors and manages patient appointments, testing, and labs for the patient population.
• Assists with obtaining prior-authorizations for the patient population.
• Educates and counsels patients about medical conditions, medications, or treatments.
• Provides nursing support in research efforts when applicable.
• Advises nursing staff across units to care for the same patient population.
• Attends conferences or educational opportunities to stay current.
