Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a dedicated nurse to provide specialized patient care and coordinate plans of care across departments. The role involves triage, education, and collaboration with care teams to ensure timely testing and referrals.

Responsibilities include assisting with procedures, medication administration, and patient education while maintaining strong communication with schedulers and providers. Strong clinical foundation required, with BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state where services will be provided or multi-state license via eNLC.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• BSN preferred; Certification in the specialty may be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on nursing assistance per department and patient needs, including procedures, tests, medications, and specimen collection.
• Serve as first contact for patients, triage and provide medical guidance as appropriate.
• Coordinate plan of care and liaise with providers, departments, and schedulers for testing, scheduling, referrals.
• Monitor patient appointments, tests, and labs required for the patient population.
• Assist with prior-authorizations for the patient population.
• Educate and counsel patients about medical conditions, medications, or treatments.
• Offer specialized nursing assistance in research efforts when applicable.
• Provide guidance to nursing staff on the same patient population.
