Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide specialized care and coordinate the plan of care for specific patient populations. You will act as a liaison among providers, departments, schedulers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate tests, referrals, and testing logistics.

Minimum qualifications include an RN license, BLS within 30 days of hire, and a state background check; preferred BSN and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state where services will be provided.
• Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
• Background check (and Federal, if applicable).
• Certification relevant to the specialized care they will be providing.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands on assistance according to department, patient and provider needs, including procedures, tests, medications, and specimen collection.
• Acts as first contact for patients, triaging and providing medical advice where applicable.
• Coordinates the plan of care and acts as a liaison between providers, departments, other healthcare professionals and schedulers to coordinate testing, scheduling, referrals, etc.
• Monitors and manages patient appointments, testing and labs.
• Assists with obtaining prior-authorizations for the patient population.
• Prepares educational material for patient use and counsels patients concerning medical condition, medication or treatment.
• Provides specialized nursing assistance in research efforts when applicable.
• Provides advice, education and consultation to nursing staff of any unit caring for the same patient population.
• Attends conferences or educational opportunities to stay up to date.
