Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk in Suffolk, NY, is seeking a Nurse Aide for the Medical Step Down Unit to join our Night shift. Under RN supervision, you perform routine nursing tasks to support patient care and comfort.

You help prepare rooms and equipment, assist with routine procedures, and participate in orientation of new staff. The role emphasizes safety, patient monitoring, and teamwork in a high-acuity unit.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED and BLS (AHA) certification.
• De-escalation training provided on the job.
• Ability to read and write at elementary level to understand plan of care and record data.

Responsibilities

• Deliver basic nursing care to meet patient needs.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and relay information to nursing staff.
• Observe patients and report changes in condition to the nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living and meals; ensure patient safety.
• Prepare rooms and equipment for procedures and maintain clean, safe environment.
• Participate in orientation of new employees and collaborate with the team.
