Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Surgical Step Down Unit on the night shift. The RN will provide professional nursing care per physician plans to promote patient comfort and well-being, assess needs, plan and implement treatments, and document observations.

Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and new-hire orientation are key parts of the role. The position emphasizes patient-centered care, discharge planning, and responsiveness to diverse patient needs

Qualifications

• Current New York State RN license.
• BLS certification and de-escalation training.
• ACLS (ICU, Float pool, Emergency Dept)
• TCAR Certification (SICU, PACU)
• PALS, TNCC within first year
• BSN preferred

Responsibilities

• The RN collects patient health data with patient, family, and other health care providers.
• Performs initial assessment based on patient presentation.
• Documents the plan of care and updates as required.
• Collaborates with the health care team to implement the plan of care.
• Coordinates discharge planning and patient education.
• Ensures patient safety and adapts care to age and cultural needs.
