Job description

IN-HOME NURSE (RN/LPN)

Promise: We Will Protect What Matters Most

Location: Rapid City, SD and surrounding Black Hills communities Employment Options: Limited Part-Time Compensation: $30-$40/hour based on licensure, experience, and qualifications Typical Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility based on client needs. We Don't Hire Nurses to Complete Visits. We Hire Nurses Who Help Protect What Matters Most.

At Home Instead of the Black Hills, our mission is simple: We are leaders in creating a better What's Next for our Clients, Families, and Care Pros—deliberately different, centered on people, and rooted in C.A.R.E. We believe exceptional care begins with exceptional people. That's why we aren't building a workforce. We're building the capacity to care. Every day, families trust us during some of life's most important and vulnerable moments. They invite us into their homes, share their concerns, and rely on us to help the people they love remain safe, independent, and connected. That trust is never taken lightly. As an In-Home Nurse, you'll play a vital role in helping clients age with dignity, supporting families with confidence, and strengthening the care experience for everyone involved. If you're looking for a position where relationships matter as much as clinical skill, where your voice is valued, and where your work has a visible impact every day, we'd love to meet you.

How You'll Help Create a Better What's Next Your work will directly influence the safety, well-being, and quality of life of the clients and families we serve.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver skilled nursing care in clients' homes, including assessments, medication management, wound care, and other nursing services within your scope of practice
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and families through compassionate communication and consistent support
  • Identify concerns early and proactively address risks that could impact a client's health, safety, or independence
  • Collaborate closely with Care Pros and office leadership to ensure care plans remain personalized and responsive
  • Educate clients and families so they feel informed, empowered, and supported
  • Document care accurately and communicate effectively to ensure continuity and quality of care
  • Help create peace of mind for families navigating complex caregiving situations

Every visit is an opportunity to provide more than clinical care. It's an opportunity to provide confidence, comfort, and connection.

Who Thrives Here The nurses who succeed at Home Instead are not simply clinically competent. They are people who naturally align with our values and believe care is built on relationships.

They tend to be:

  • Compassionate and empathetic
  • Accountable and dependable
  • Attentive to details while never losing sight of the person behind the care plan
  • Responsive and proactive in communication
  • Encouraging and positive even during difficult situations
  • Committed to doing the right thing even when no one is watching
  • Relationship-first in their approach to clients, families, and teammates

Most importantly, they genuinely believe older adults deserve exceptional care, dignity, and respect.

How We'll Invest in You We believe great care starts with caring for the people who provide it.

That's why we offer:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications
  • Flexible scheduling options
  • Paid time off
  • Quarterly bonus opportunities
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Employee recognition and appreciation programs
  • Simple IRA with employer match
  • Ongoing development and growth opportunities
  • Supportive leadership committed to your success
  • A purpose-driven culture built on trust, accountability, and relationships

You’ll join a team backed by more than 12 years of local service and over 700,000 hours of care provided throughout the Black Hills.

What You’ll Need

  • Current RN or LPN license valid in South Dakota
  • Strong clinical judgment and nursing skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the Black Hills service area
  • A genuine passion for helping older adults live safely and independently at home

A Note About Joining Our Team We're intentional about who we invite onto our team. Not because we're looking for perfection. Because our clients, families, and fellow Care Pros deserve teammates who share our commitment to compassion, accountability, professionalism, and service.
