Job summary

The Nuclear Technical Instructor position at Callaway Energy Center administers, maintains, and evaluates training programs to support qualification programs and ensure accreditation. Instructors enhance learner knowledge, skills, and plant performance across disciplines.

Responsibilities include delivering classroom, laboratory, and simulator instruction; coordinating examinations; supporting SAT deployment; and maintaining compliance with training procedures, certifications, and ERO duties as

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Two or more years of relevant professional or journey-level experience is required.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a relevant associate’s degree and two additional years (four total) or a high school diploma and four additional years (six total) of the aforementioned types of experience may be considered.
  • Previous training instructor experience in a National Academy for Nuclear Training accredited program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer formal classroom training, including classroom, laboratory, and simulator instruction
  • Prepare, administer, and grade examinations and evaluate trainee performance
  • Schedule and coordinate training course presentations with appropriate department personnel
  • Support the implementation of an effective and efficient Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) that meets or exceeds industry standards and is institutionalized into plant procedures and processes
  • Support subject matter experts and vendors providing on-site and off-site training within the appropriate discipline area
  • Monitor condition reports and industry trends for potential areas of weakness for Operating Experience applicability into lesson plans
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all training conducted in accordance with applicable procedures and criteria
  • Actively participate in training programs to maintain individual qualifications
  • Participate in in-plant activities and field time to maintain required licenses, certifications, and technical proficiency
  • Provide refueling outage support for preparations, in-processing training, and/or filling assigned outage position
  • Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP), including responding to assigned ERO facilities within the required RERP response time

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Relevant professional or journey-level experience
High school diploma with 4–6 years of experience
