Job summary

Orano USA in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is seeking a Nuclear Safety/Integrated Safety Analysis Engineer to develop ISA/DSA and oversee safety-basis design for Project IKE’s uranium enrichment facility. The role requires coordinating hazard analyses, IROFS, and safety controls, with oversight across engineering disciplines.

The candidate will prepare USQ evaluations, support NRC interactions, and contribute to readiness reviews while mentoring junior staff. Onsite work at the Oak Ridge site is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering or physical-science discipline.
• 4 to 15 years of progressive professional experience in nuclear safety analysis, safety-basis development, or safety engineering.
• Must be eligible for a DOE security clearance and maintain eligibility during employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, update, and configuration control of the ISA, ISA Summary, and supporting safety-basis documentation.
• Perform hazard analysis and consequence assessments for enrichment process systems and related facilities.
• Identify IROFS, define functional requirements and performance criteria; support safety controls.
• Prepare and review USQ / change evaluations and 10 CFR 70.72 change-process packages.
• Support NRC license applications, RAIs, inspections, and readiness; brief federal counterparts.
• Integrate safety analyses across disciplines and mentor junior safety engineers.
• Author technical reports and present findings to leadership and regulators.
