Job summary

Consolidated Nuclear Security in Oak Ridge seeks a first-level Supervisor for Nuclear Safety Engineers to obtain federal authorization for nuclear operations at Y-12. You will provide leadership, set priorities, and ensure safe conditions while coordinating with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities include leading hazard evaluations, identifying safety controls, performing Unreviewed Safety Question Determinations, maintaining safety basis documents, and mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and ABET-equivalent recognition considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Must meet DOE O 426.2A requirements or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead hazard evaluation studies and accident analyses.
• Identify safety controls to protect workers and the public.
• Perform Unreviewed Safety Question Determinations before changes.
• Evaluate operational events for potential safety issues.
• Maintain safety basis documentation via change notices and updates.
• Support design, installation and startup of new capabilities.
• Develop major modification determinations for substantial changes.
• Review work products from Nuclear Safety staff.
• Brief federal counterparts on safety posture of operations.
• Mentor Nuclear Safety team members.
