Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking two Nuclear Engineering interns for the Prairie Island and Monticello nuclear plants. The interns will join the reactor engineering group and assist with monitoring reactor cores, trend analysis, and data automation.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in Nuclear Engineering programs and available for full-time summer work or part-time during the school year, with hybrid in-person requirements at the designated location in Minnesota.

Qualifications

• Currently a student enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Nuclear Engineering.
• Desire to work full-time during summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during school year (up to 20 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Review nuclear core and plant reactor daily trend data.
• Generate procedure change requests for reactor engineering procedures.
• Assist with new nuclear fuel receipt.
• Improve/automate data collection and analysis related to reactor core components and thermal limits.
