Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minnesota is offering an internship for engineering students to support the development of plant design changes, life cycle management plans, system improvements and reliability reporting alongside staff engineers.

Typical duties include field walkdowns, data analysis, preparing engineering documentation, and generating reports under the guidance of an engineering mentor. Start date is May 24, 2027, with possible extension depending on performance.

Qualifications

• Current student, Sophomore or higher.
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Chemical Engineering.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week) and commute to the designated work location in-person per hybrid policy.

Responsibilities

• Perform field walkdowns.
• Analyze data and make recommendations for actions.
• Provide support to staff engineers on preparation of engineering products.
• Generate reports and documentation as directed by engineering mentor.
