Job summary

UT-Battelle's Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a Quality Representative to provide independent QA support for nuclear and radiological operations, applying ASME NQA-1 requirements and a graded approach. The role is embedded in the Isotopes Enrichment & Facilities QA Group within the Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in engineering/science, 8+ years of nuclear QA experience, and the ability to lead assessments, supplier oversight, and QA

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering, science, quality assurance, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of nuclear-related quality assurance experience.
• Working knowledge of ASME NQA-1 requirements and nuclear QA principles.
• Ability to qualify as a radiological worker.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent QA support for nuclear/radiological operations per ASME NQA-1 requirements.
• Review fabrication, inspection, and test plans with appropriate hold/witness points and acceptance criteria.
• Review engineering, procurement, fabrication, maintenance, and work-control documents for QA incorporation.
• Provide supplier QA oversight including evaluations, source inspections, and receipt inspections.
• Witness or oversee factory acceptance testing to ensure QA compliance.
• Lead assessments, audits, surveillances, and independent reviews of facilities and projects.
• Lead Auditor or assessment team lead when qualified and assigned.
• Identify, document, evaluate, and close nonconforming conditions and QA issues.
• Evaluate corrective and preventive actions to ensure closure with objective evidence.
• Conduct independent reviews of software QA documentation.
• Support event critiques and causal analyses; recommend improvements.
• Develop and implement QA plans, procedures, guidance, and performance measures.
• Build relationships with customers, suppliers, and management to prioritize QA initiatives.
