Job summary

Cardinal Health is hiring a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician. The role involves preparing prescriptions, compounding radiopharmaceuticals, and performing radiation safety tasks in a nuclear environment.

You will receive on-the-job training and may participate in safety training and deliveries, with a schedule that includes early hours, weekends, and on-call rotations. The position requires a high school diploma, state license preferred, and strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent or equivalent work experience, preferred.
• State Pharmacy Technician license preferred.
• National pharmacy technician certification preferred.
• Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Completion of Cardinal Health’s nuclear pharmacy technician training or prior nuclear pharmacy experience.
• Past IV experience is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age; ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service skills.
• Flexibility to work various shifts; nuclear environment experience; weekend/holiday/on-call rotations; overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval.
• Compounds medications according to applicable state laws and obtain Pharmacist endorsement.
• Draws doses into either a syringe or vial.
• Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals per guidelines.
• Receives, documents, and stores incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals per DoT and company guidelines.
• Maintains computer inventory and records for radioactive materials and Rx drugs.
• Assists labeling of blood cell products.
• Elutes generator.
• Receives standard diagnostic orders from Cardinal Health customers; adheres to regulations.
• Performs radiation safety tasks and may train facility staff.
• General laboratory and facility cleanup; clerical and billing responsibilities.
• Makes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles.
• Speaks with customers and addresses questions by phone.
• Work under close supervision; deviations approved by supervisor.
• May oversee training of non-pharmacists in non-dispensing tasks.
• May assist Radiation Safety Officer as permitted by regulation.
