Job summary

Cardinal Health, Inc. is looking for a Pharmacy Technician in Glendale Heights, Illinois. This position involves preparing prescriptions, performing quality tests, and providing customer support.

Candidates should have a valid driver's license, customer service skills, and preferably some experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Benefits include medical, dental, paid time off, and a 401K plan.

Qualifications

  • Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains computer inventory and records for Rx drugs.
  • Provides customer support and addresses inquiries via phone.

Shift/Schedule
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday 12:30 AM to 9 AM
  • Weekends/holidays on a rotational basis, every 20th week, 2 AM to 10 AM

What does Nuclear Pharmacy contribute to Cardinal Health?

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated state and federal guidelines. May also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtaining Staff Pharmacist approval
  • Draws doses into either a syringe or vial
  • Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with federal, state, company and manufacturer guidelines
  • Receives, documents, and stores incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and company guidelines
  • Maintains computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
  • Assists and/or performs labeling of blood cell products
  • Performs general laboratory and facility clean up
  • May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
  • Makes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
  • Speaks with customers and addresses questions and/or concerns via telephone
  • Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle required
  • Registration with the Illinois State Board of Pharmacy, statutory licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or PTCB preferred
  • Ability to manage up to 75 pounds
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
  • Previous IV or clean room environment experience is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, holding of small objects, and dispensing doses
  • Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks
  • Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
  • Ability to work weekends, on call, holidays, overtime, alternate days/shifts, or be in a rotation
  • Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)
  • May require vendor credentialing
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred

Pay rate: $23.00 per hour
