Job summary

Cardinal Health is hiring a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician in Michigan. The role supports radiopharmaceuticals, operates under strict regulatory guidelines, and performs duties from prescription preparation to inventory management.

The position requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and experience in a clean room or IV environment is a plus. A sign-on bonus of $1,500 is offered with benefits including health coverage and a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle required.
  • State licensure or PTCB certification preferred.
  • National pharmacy technician registration/license preferred.
  • Ability to manage up to 75 pounds.
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtaining Staff Pharmacist approval.
  • Draws doses into a syringe or vial.
  • Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals per guidelines.
  • Receives, documents, and stores pharmaceuticals per guidelines.
  • Maintains computer inventory and records for Rx drugs.
  • Assists with labeling blood cell products.
  • Performs general lab and facility cleanup.
  • May perform clerical duties and billing records; deliveries as needed.
  • Speaks with customers to address questions.

Shift/Schedule
  • 40 hours per week
  • Saturday-Wednesday
    • Saturday and Sunday 1:30am - 07:30am
    • Monday through Wednesday 01:30am - 10:30am

What does Nuclear Pharmacy contribute to Cardinal Health?

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines. It may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval
  • Draws doses into either a syringe or vial
  • Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines
  • Receives, documents, and stores incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelines
  • Maintains computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
  • Assists and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products
  • Performs general laboratory and facility clean up
  • May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
  • Makes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
  • Speaks with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone
  • Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Must hold a valid driver's license
  • Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle required
  • Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, state licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or PTCB preferred
  • National pharmacy technician registration/license preferred
  • Ability to manage up to 75 pounds
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
  • Previous IV or clean room environment experience is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, holding of small objects, and dispensing doses
  • Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks
  • Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
  • Ability to work weekends, on call, holidays, overtime, alternate days/shifts, or be in a rotation
  • Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)
  • May require vendor credentialing
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
