Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician to support radiopharmaceuticals and related drugs under strict regulatory guidelines. The role involves preparing prescriptions, inventory management, and customer communications in a nuclear environment.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, pharmacy technician licensure (preferred), and the ability to work a 40-hour week with rotating and early-morning hours, including weekends and holidays. Benefits start on day one.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• State board registration/licensure as Pharmacy Technician preferred.
• National pharmacy technician registration/license preferred.
• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepares prescriptions by labeling and obtaining Staff Pharmacist approval.
• Draws doses into either a syringe or vial.
• Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals per guidelines.
• Receives, documents, and stores incoming/outgoing pharmaceuticals per DOT and company guidelines.
• Maintains computer inventory and records for Rx drugs.
• Assists with labeling blood cell products and performs general lab/facility cleanup.
• May perform clerical/billing tasks and maintain daily records; may make deliveries in company vehicles.
• Interacts with customers via telephone to address questions or concerns.

Shift/Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Saturday-Wednesday
  • Saturday and Sunday 1:30am - 07:30am
  • Monday through Wednesday 01:30am - 10:30am
• Rotating holidays as needed
• Candidate must be flexible to work different days, schedules, hours, come in early, stay late, or work overtime based on business needs.

What does Nuclear Pharmacy contribute to Cardinal Health?

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.

Responsibilities

• Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval
• Draws doses into either a syringe or vial
• Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines
• Receives, documents, and stores incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelines
• Maintains computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
• Assists and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products
• Performs general laboratory and facility clean up
• May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
• Makes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
• Speaks with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone
• Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driver's license
• Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle required
• Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, state licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or PTCB preferred
• National pharmacy technician registration/license preferred
• Ability to manage up to 75 pounds
• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
• Previous IV or clean room environment experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, holding of small objects, and dispensing doses
• Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks
• Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
• Ability to work weekends, on call, holidays, overtime, alternate days/shifts, or be in a rotation
• Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)
• May require vendor credentialing
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
