Job summary

The Nuclear Medicine/PET Technologist at MUSC supports physicians by preparing patients and operating nuclear medicine equipment to obtain diagnostic scans. Administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications as ordered, providing therapy as directed and delivering quality care to pediatric through adult patients.

Requirements include ARRT or NMTCB Nuclear Medicine Program graduation, CNMT or RT(N) registry (within 12 months if needed), and SCRQSA licensure with current BLS; ACLS preferred.

Performs quality care to pediatric through adult patients using professional and ethical judgment along with critical thinking in performing duties.


Education

Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB recognized Nuclear Medicine Program required.


Work Experience

0-2 years of modality specific experience.


Credentials

Must be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) from the NMTCB or Registered Technologist (RT (N)) from ARRT or registry eligible with a B.S. or B.A. preferred. If registry eligible, must obtain certification within 12 months.


Licensure

Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) required.


Current Basic Life Support (BLS)

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.


Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
