Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic examinations following physician orders and protocols. You will ensure image quality, patient safety, and accurate documentation in electronic systems.

The role requires graduation from an accredited radiologic tech program, ARRT registration (within 6 months if needed), SC license, and a BLS certificate. On-site position with weekend on-call duties and related incentives.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • 0–2 years of modality-specific work experience.
  • ARRT registration or eligibility; must obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure from SC Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current BLS certification is required.

  • Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations per physician orders and protocols.

Job Description Summary

$10,000 sign-on bonus + up to $5,000 relocation assistance available Full Time –Days (Mon-Thurs, 12:00PM – 10:30PM)

Compensation & Incentives
  • Sign-on bonus: $10,000
  • Relocation assistance: Up to $5,000 for eligible candidates
  • Shift Differentials: up to $2.30 per hr (depending on shift)
  • Additional pay: (call pay, overtime etc.)
  • Shift Details: Schedule: Weekend Days Hours: Mon-Thurs, 12:00PM – 10:30PM
  • Call requirements: 3 on-call days every 13 weeks
  • Holiday expectations: Rotating Schedule
Responsibilities
  • Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast agents as directed and under the supervision of a physician.
  • Verifies patient identification, examination orders, and relevant clinical information prior to procedures.
  • Positions patients appropriately and operates radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintains patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout examinations.
  • Reviews images for quality and completeness and obtains additional images when necessary.
  • Follows radiation safety practices and applicable departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Documents examinations and patient information accurately in the appropriate electronic systems.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas in accordance with department standards and infection prevention protocols.
Required License Certification and Registration
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Experience: 0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience.
  • Required Registration/Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), If not registered must obtain the registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
