Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking experienced Mechanical/Piping Designers to join our growing nuclear market team. You will create 3D piping models for industrial and power facilities using SmartPlant 3D, MicroStation, and AutoCAD Plant 3D, and guide junior designers.

You will coordinate with internal and external partners, ensure design deliverables meet codes, and communicate clearly with stakeholders. A 10–15 year background and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in CAD, engineering or related field.
• Experience with SmartPlant 3D, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
• 10–15 years of 3D modeling/detailed design experience.
• Nuclear, industrial, power, oil & gas balance of plant design experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• US citizenship or permanent residency; background check.

Responsibilities

• Use 3D design software to create 3D equipment models and guide lower-level designers.
• Design piping systems and generate isometrics for industrial/power facilities.
• Perform early project design work related to facility layout and equipment general arrangement.
• Develop, monitor and check design deliverables per codes and company standards.
• Navigate 3D models to check interferences and constructability.
• Support construction on-site with design guidance and RFIs.
• Coordinate with internal/external design partners; review progress and results.
• Develop schedules, staffing requirements and support detailed estimates.
• Train, mentor, and advise junior designers.
• Report task progress to Lead Designer.
• Complete miscellaneous tasks to support project/department.
