Job summary

Curtiss Wright Round Rock is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of nuclear-qualified components and designs while identifying new technologies to stay ahead of the competition.

The role will lead design and development, perform ASME calculations for nuclear instrumentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-standard design deliverables. Travel to US sites may be required, and a PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• 5+ years of applicable industry experience.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings and calculation summaries.
• Strong technical skills with deep knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with ability to innovate.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for work with clients and teams.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the US.
• Travel to customers or other US sites may be required.
• Experience using Syteline or similar ERP system.
• Familiar with nuclear, aerospace and commercial quality systems (NQA-1, RCCE/RCCM, AS9100, IS900X).

Responsibilities

• Act as Technical Lead on the design and development of mechanical components and systems, including prototypes and testing.
• Perform calculations and apply ASME Code to design and analysis of qualified nuclear sensors/instrumentation.
• Knowledge of Nuclear CDG principles and application methods.
• Familiarity with nuclear quality regulations such as 10CFR50, Appendix B, NQA-1, and 10CFR Part 21.
• Participate in a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager.
• Develop design deliverables: drawings, BOMs, procedures, and design documentation.
• Prepare technical presentations and written communications for customers and management.
• Work with Sales to write proposals and cost estimates.
• Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure change control is implemented.
