Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a Loop Engineer for the Test and Fill Facility to oversee sodium test loops for Natrium development. You will configure, operate, and validate high-temperature liquid sodium systems, including inserting, filling, draining, purification and thermal-hydraulic tests.

Collaborating with Natrium system engineers, safety analysis, and operations, you will ensure tests are planned and executed safely, efficiently, and with high data quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–8 years of experience in thermal-hydraulic systems or high-temperature loops.
• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.

Responsibilities

• Refine sodium test loop configurations to Natrium operating conditions.
• Support P&ID development and equipment layout integration with facilities.
• Perform steady-state and transient analyses of loops for operating envelopes.
• Calculate pressure drops, flows, and thermal profiles for tests.
• Develop test matrices and specify measurement accuracy.
• Write operating procedures and start-up/shutdown sequences.
• Provide support to operations during test runs and troubleshoot.
