Job summary

Framatome is seeking a System Designer for Instrumentation & Control Safety Systems in the United States. You will contribute to defining and integrating safety-related control systems for nuclear power modernization projects, ensuring regulatory and safety standards are met while aligning with product strategy and commercial commitments.

You will translate requirements into system specifications, collaborate across hardware, software, cybersecurity, and HMI, and support lifecycle documentation

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.
• Good communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience with customer and regulator interactions.
• Familiarity with digital safety platforms such as FPGA based systems, safety PLCs, or qualified DCS platforms.
• Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system level architecture for safety class digital I&C systems (reactor protection, ESF actuation, backups).
• Translate regulatory, licensing, and customer requirements into system specifications and interfaces.
• Drive cross-disciplinary integration across hardware, software, networks, cybersecurity, and HMI components.
• Support safety analyses (FMEA, reliability assessments, deterministic safety evaluations, D3).
• Ensure compliance with IEEE/NRC safety standards and regulatory guidance.
• Collaborate with licensing, quality, and commercial teams on bids and regulatory interactions.
• Prepare and review lifecycle documentation (requirements, architecture, interfaces, safety case).
• Support configuration management and design change control throughout lifecycle.
