Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation in Charlotte, NC seeks a Senior Nuclear Licensing Engineer to lead regulatory documentation, advise on licensing issues, and coordinate with the NRC as part of the New Nuclear Generation team.

You will review vendor submissions, prepare correspondence, and participate in regulatory engagements, audits, and public meetings to support licensing objectives and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• 1 year of nuclear power plant experience
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer
• A Master’s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. engineering degree
• Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer

Responsibilities

• Prepares high quality documents for NRC, DOE, and state agencies
• Interfaces with NRC, DOE, and state/local agencies
• Reviews vendor documents and resolves regulatory issues
• Develops new procedures or revisions to existing procedures
• Coaches and mentors other professionals
• Represents Duke Energy on working groups and industry organizations
• Ensures planning, scheduling, and monitoring of activities to meet business goals
• Maintains accurate records and files
• Provides engineering/regulatory guidance on complex problems
