Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation's Electrical Design team develops and implements plant modifications, defining the scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for modifications installed in the plant. Ongoing support of engineering changes occurs through work order reviews, corrective action programs, and field installation support activities.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited BS in Engineering required.
  • Master's degree may substitute for BS.
  • 0–2 years engineering experience.
  • Upcoming ABET graduates may be considered.
  • Must meet ANSI requirements per AD-LS-ALL-0011.
  • Must be able to obtain nuclear site unescorted access.
  • Emergency Response Organization responsibilities may be required.
  • Must wear PPE as needed.
  • Office and plant environments.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
  • Live within a reasonable commute (≤50 miles).

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering/technical guidance in problem analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Plans, organizes, estimates, schedules, and monitors work activities to meet business goals.
  • Prepares technical reports, calculations, and sketches for defined problems.
  • Conducts engineering studies and completes non-routine projects with minimal oversight.
  • Applies fundamental engineering concepts to handle increasing complexity.
  • Develops positive working relationships and maintains records.
  • Supports company goals and represents the company professionally.
  • Design changes include AC/DC power systems, large AC motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, voltage regulators, breakers.
