Job summary

Duke Energy’s Instrumentation & Control Design Engineering team at Oconee Nuclear Station seeks a Nuclear Engineer III or Senior Nuclear Engineer to advance complex plant modifications. You will own design tasks from concept through installation, testing, turnover, and closeout, supporting safe and reliable carbon-free electricity.

The role emphasizes strong technical judgment, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration across Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and Cybersecurity.

Qualifications

• Requires BS in Engineering from ABET-accredited program; MS considered in lieu of BS.
• 1 year of nuclear power plant experience minimum.
• Ability to manage engineering projects with minimal supervision and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical expertise to identify and resolve problems of increasing scope.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering work and manage priorities.
• Prepare calculations, specifications, drawings, design inputs, evaluations, setpoints and test plans.
• Evaluate design alternatives, risk, lifecycle needs and stakeholder input; document recommendations.
• Develop conceptual designs and coordinate with vendors and external design firms.
